 As experts in industrial water treatment, we are often asked: "Is water treated with reverse osmosis harmful to drink or expose to for a long time?" From household water purifiers to ultrapure water systems in the electronics industry, the application of reverse osmosis technology is becoming increasingly widespread, and its safety has also become a subject of debate. What is Reverse Osmosis?

The core of reverse osmosis is "precise interception"—allowing water molecules to pass through a 0.0001-micron semi-permeable membrane under pressure while simultaneously intercepting heavy metal ions, microorganisms, and organic pollutants.

In industrial settings, electronic chip production requires the removal of all ions from water to prevent short circuits, and the pharmaceutical industry needs to eliminate microbial contamination. Reverse osmosis is the core technology for achieving these stringent standards, and its treatment precision has been verified by global industrial systems.

What do we need to know after reverse osmosis treatment?

The most concerning issue is "mineral loss," which needs to be viewed rationally. Reverse osmosis does remove minerals such as calcium and magnesium from water, but more than 90% of the minerals the human body needs come from food—100 grams of spinach contains the same amount of calcium as 20 liters of mineral water. Our daily diet is the primary source of these minerals. Industrial water use doesn't need to worry about this issue; on the contrary, it requires thorough mineral removal to ensure production safety, which is one of the core directions of our membrane technology optimization.

The claim that "weakly acidic water changes body constitution" lacks scientific support. The pH value of human blood is strictly regulated between 7.35 and 7.45 by the respiratory system and kidneys, and fluctuations in the pH of drinking water have no impact on this. Our laboratory data shows that although the pH value of reverse osmosis water is slightly lower than that of tap water, it is far from reaching the threshold that affects the human body's acid-base balance. The World Health Organization has not listed drinking water pH value as a core health indicator.

Of course, reverse osmosis technology must address the wastewater issue.
